You do not need to do all of this. Begin with the part that feels kindest.

Make it easy to begin

A useful night routine should work on your hardest day, not only your most organized one. Choose a beginning cue that already happens: plugging in your phone, brushing your teeth, or turning off the kitchen light.

Dim before you stop

Lower the lights and the pace before asking the mind to be still. Ten minutes of softer input can feel more natural than an abrupt switch from scrolling to sleep.

End with one familiar sound

A quiet fan, brown noise, or slow ocean rhythm can become the final signal that nothing else is required tonight.
